Dalat is not only attractive by its cool weather or imposing landmarks, but it is also impressive when it comes to cuisines. Then, don't forget to try the following food in Dalat! Let’s check it out!
Dalat is not only attractive to photographers or people loving taking photos, but it is also a heaven for food lovers. This is truly heaven since it takes you time to enjoy all food in Dalat, and also the beverages. You don’t have to think “What should we eat now?” but you should think “What should we start to enjoy?”. Let me list all you should try when visiting Đà Lạt so that you will not miss anything.
Just one small note that I will not translate all the names of the foods in English since it might be mistranslated and make local people misunderstand. Besides, you should learn how to say all since traveling is learning new things.
Moreover, I think you should not imagine that you will sit in a fancy restaurant when I write “a Vietnamese restaurant” since it looks like a stall.
Food in Dalat you should not miss!
Bánh Căn

It’s not hard to find a restaurant (you get what I mean when I write a restaurant, right?) serving Bánh Căn in Dalat. Actually, Bánh Căn is not the specialty of Dalat as you can find Bánh Căn in Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City… Nevertheless, the way to eat Bánh Căn is different from everywhere. People eat Bánh Căn with sauce with small-cut small spring onion.
Bánh ướt lòng gà

This is one of the specialties of Dalat, the combination of Bánh Ướt (something like noodles but bigger) and Lòng Gà (internal organs of chickens). In other places, people eat Bánh Ướt with spring rolls, grilled chopped meat, grilled meat, but in Dalat, people eat it with Lòng Gà, making it special. I tried it when visiting Dalat impressive and loved it immediately. There are some original places to try this since they were established years ago. They are Quán Long (Add: Alley 202, A16 KQH Phan Đình Phùng), Hằng (Add: 68 Phan Đình Phùng), Chip Chip (Add: 28 Tăng Bạt Hổ), Quán Trang (Add: 15F Tăng Bạt Hổ).
Lẩu gà lá é

Traveling to Dalat but not trying Lẩu gà lá é is a big miss. Eating the hotpot (yah, Lẩu means hotpot) in the chilly weather of Dalat is something wonderful and makes your day. Since it is truly popular so don’t be surprised if the restaurants are always full. Actually, there are 2 original restaurants serving this hotpot: Lẩu gà lá é Tao Ngộ (Add: 5 Street No.3/4) and Lẩu gà lá é 668 (Add: 2B Chu Văn An).
Lẩu bò (Ba Toa)

It can be translated into the beef hotpot. Of course, you can try beef hotpot everywhere in Vietnam, but that in Dalat is quite different, especially Ba Toa is a famous “brand” which a lot of people imitate. Located in a small alley that is quite hard to find, Ba Toa beef hotpot (I mean the only original one) is an attractive restaurant for food lovers.
Food at the night market

Dalat night market is food heaven for everyone where you can find grilled meat, grilled sweet potatoes, fruits, yogurts… at a reasonable price. Moreover, this is where you can do a walk, take photos, buy souvenirs, admire the move of the city… and enjoy specialties.
Bánh tráng nướng

Bánh tráng nướng can be translated into “grilled rice-paper pizza” and Dalat is a heaven for this kind of food. You can find Bánh tráng nướng in every corner of Dalat especially at Lâm Viên Square. The price for one piece of Bánh tráng nướng is around 15.000 VND - 20.000 VND. You should enjoy it immediately when it’s still hot. Then, why not take a piece of Bánh tráng nướng and admire the view of Xuân Hương Lake?
Bánh mì xíu mại

Actually, Bánh mì xíu mại is not a specialty but you can find it everywhere in Dalat, and people there enjoy it for their breakfast. A Vietnamese bread (Bánh mì) with a bowl of meatball (Xíu mại) can make you fully charged for a whole day.
Soya milk

You can enjoy a cup of soya milk (hot or iced) after having breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With the chilly weather of Dalat, a cup of hot soya milk is what your stomach needs to cool yourself. It’s super easy to find soya milk in Dalat and the price for one cup is around 5.000 VND - 10.000 VND, quite cheap.
Artichoke

If you want to buy souvenirs, buy artichoke since Dalat is very famous for this kind of tea. Don’t be surprised if your accommodation owners invite you to drink a cup of artichoke. Just be careful of fake artichoke from China. Otherwise, you can buy other kinds of teas in Dalat at a reasonable price.
